Xander had to have his tonsils and adenoids removed. He had the operation done at Boys Town National Research Hospital. The hospital and staff were awesome. They totally catered to children. Xander loved the little window in his room, it was right at his level and he only got out when the nurse promised to let him play with the stethescope. The room was great because it served as Pre-op, waiting and post-op. I never had to leave the room and was able to hang out and watch t.v. while I waited.

Xander was a very obedient patient he did everything the nurse asked him to do to the letter. This is him taking a VERY big breath.
Then Jeff showed up. Jeff was our patient advocate. He sat down and told Xander EVERYTHING that was going to happen. He even brought photos. Xander listened very carefully and asked lots of great questions like, "Why are that boy's pajamas different than mine?"
Xander was shown how the mask would go on his face. as well as shown the I.V. Jeff then asked him what flavor mask he wanted (bubblegum of course!) and what color medical tape he wanted for his I.V. (PINK! Who knew Xander liked pink?)
Here come the nerves! Xander was comforted when he was allowed to take his blanket. They didn't take it away until he was under the anesthesia and he got it back before he woke up...beautiful! This hospital knows kids!
Recovering after the surgery. The nurses gave him the Gund Frog you see on the bed. It was so soft. Xander hasn't let it out of his sight since he got it, and it ranks right up there with his blankey now. By the way, the frogs name is Filmore.
