Grandma Chazel and Grandpa Lloyd came out to visit and we took them to see the Mormon Trail Center and the Kanesville Tabernacle. It was a lot of fun for all of us as Rod and I hadn't been able to get out there yet. Here the boys try their hand at pushing a handcart.
They loved the bunk re-enactment from the ships. Xander kept referring to the model as the Titanic because in his mind, every ship is the Titanic...The coolest thing was when we watched a film on those who crossed the Ocean. One pioneer had written that during a particulary bad storm, many on board were worried they wouldn't make it to port. The Captain's reply, "We'll make it to port, when there are mormon's on board, we always make it safely to port". I thought that was very cool.
Xander's biggest thrill was going to the Pioneer Cemetary on the grounds of the Winter Quarters Temple. It was very humbling to look at all the old headstones and read about the pioneers who sacrificed so much.

AJ, Xander and Rod and Chazel listen to Sister Tonga talk about the difficulty in pulling the handcart over rocks.
