My parents made the trip out to the cornfield to see the boys and the new house. One thing my dad has wanted to do for several years, is to see the locomotives up at Kenefick Park. We braved the World College series and headed out on our adventure. With a little luck and a little help from Onstar, we got there. We were surprised to see the park was almost deserted (even with the CWS going on). It was a truly great adventure. And, even though I have driven by those locomotives a million times heading to Council Bluffs, I had NO IDEA the enormity of them. They are massive. The boys were even impressed! I was grateful to my dad for pushing us to go see them. Of course, before we left, the boys had to make Grandma pretty for the trip...what a great sport she was!
Once we got there, we realized the first step(s) was to climb the hill. Everyone put there best foot forward and the boys celebrated Rocky style when they got to the top :)
My dad wasted no time in telling the boys all about the engines. He had the opportunity to see them as a child when they were first built. Both boys had a blast exploring. We had to stand by the locomotives so that you, who have never seen them, could get a better idea of their size.

In the end, it truly was a great adventure. I'm still trying to figure out why I don't have any pictures of the yellow train?!? Oh well. The boys had a marvelous time checking out the local flora and fauna as well :) A dead bird held Xander's attention for quite some time... as did the bugs. And I couldn't pass up the opportunity to take a parting picture of the tree line along the Missouri river!
