3 Tonsillectomies in 2 years is not my idea of fun! AJ got his turn only 5 months after Xander. We were a little sad that he couldn't have them out at Boys Town since they cater to kids. Boys Town was being renovated. Instead, we headed to Midlands. They did not cater to kids at all! However, AJ's nurse was amazing and so sweet.
He was scared out of his mind and kept asking for details on the tool the doctor would use to take out the tonsils. When the doctor described the tool in detail, AJ didn't even flinch. Then the doctor ended by saying, "And that's how we destroy the tissue". At this point, AJ freaked out and started screaming, "That sounds so destructive! I want out of this house of horrors!!!" He then screamed all the way to to operating room...left quite an impression on the staff!
He has had a miserable recovery and has told me that he will never go near a hospital again...I believe he is quite sincere about this. Personally, I'm just glad it's over and AJ is thrilled that he got stuffed animals and hospital socks out of the deal :)
